Laughing in the Snow

I had the best day today.

Nevermind the fact that I was poked with multiple needles at the doctor’s office, where I sat for three and a half hours this morning.

Nevermind the fact that I was worried I would gag on the drink they gave me.

Nevermind the fact that I slipped a bit on some sludgy ice on my way into the office. I didn’t fall.

I had the best day today.

As I prepared to leave work, I was struggling to put on my socks. I couldn’t quite bend over far enough. Something was in my way. Then it dawned on me. It was the baby and my tummy! What a weird feeling. It made me smile.

As I walked to the post office to pick up a package, there were a few peaceful snowflakes falling and a lady called out to me and told me she liked my arm rest. You know what? So do I! He’s great company and DOES serve as an arm rest sometimes. It made me smile.

As I rounded the corner to the post office, I jumped back. Monkey kicked me with all his might. Until last night, I hadn’t felt a kick like that in over a month. Now, I had felt it two days in a row. I was beaming.

As I walked out of the post office, Christmas package in hand, the snow started to come down harder. I sighed and was about to be grumpy since I’d have to walk home in the ice and dumping snow, but then Monkey pelted me again! I was giddy.

As I made the walk home, the snow continued and was getting caught in my eyelashes. At times, it was hard to see, and I knew my mascara was getting smeared. I didn’t care. I called my mom and was laughing hysterically at the weather and my situation. The baby clearly thought this was a riot too, and he gave me one more hard kick in the center of my belly.

Tonight, I get to go watch a Christmas concert with my friend Megan. John is doing the lighting and many friends are playing in the concert. I’m really looking forward to it.

Today was the best day!

I’m doing my best to really treasure the time. I know it will be over way too quickly, and I’ll really miss him dancing around in there.
