All the Leaves are Brown and the Sky is Grey

It’s not quite that fall-ish yet, but it’s close.

We left Germany on August 5th and felt like the truly hot weather was just beginning. Summer was in full swing.

We returned on August 22nd and it was fall. There are yellow leaves all over the ground. When I wake up in the morning, the temperature is around 55.  The highs are near 70. Hello fall, goodbye summer. Hello. Goodbye.

Though I will miss summer as we are thrust into the perpetual grey of winter here soon, there are some things we have definitely been looking forward to, nameley neuer Wein und Zweibelkuchen and the Weihnachtsmarkts, which, in English, translaters to new wine and onion cake and the Christmas markets. Hurray! Neuer wein is grape juice that isn’t quite to the wine stage yet. It’s tasty but it does NOT smell good. It pairs very well with Zweibelkuchen, which is kind of like an onion quiche thing. I don’t know how to explain the two any better than that.  And if you have been reading our blog for awhile, you definitely know about Christmas markets. If not, try some of these posts:

We are also looking forward to my parents and Andrew visiting in December! We can’t wait to show my parents more of Germany and introduce my brother to his first foreign country!

(No, I didn’t post this from our trip. This is my first pre-scheduled post. We’ll be back on Monday!)

Me too…and now, I’ve caught the decorating bug. The only bad thing is that we don’t have any decorations to put up!

At first, I thought your comment said “as hot as chickens.” I didn’t get it. Guess I should slow down 🙂
